Mike Paardekooper Chairman

A Central Otago businessperson, Mike and his wife Gai have 20 years experience with the Group owning stores in Cromwell, Alexandra and Queenstown Airport and recently in partnership at Queenstown Paper Plus.  Mike has been a director of Paper Plus for 12 years including the last three as chairman.  
He has 13 years Local Body Government experience, is chairman of the Central Otago Sports Turf Trust and a director of Pioneer Generation Ltd as well as several other companies. Mike has completed the marketing part of a Degree and is a member of the New Zealand Institute
of Directors.

 

Catherine Treneman Deputy Chairperson

After finishing her Commerce Degree Katie spent 6 years in commercial and chartered accountancy roles.   After travelling overseas Katie returned to the family business thirteen years ago and  now owns and operates Paper Plus Howick with her mother Bev Winstone.   Katie and her husband Andrew enjoy boating, water skiing and snow skiing; and they have two young children.

 

 

Rob Clarke

Rob has been involved in the book and stationery industry for the past 29 years and was a foundation member of Nationwide Stationers.  He has served on Paper Plus buying committees and strategy groups, and served four years on the board of Booksellers New Zealand.  He is currently on the board of New Zealand Book Month and has served thirteen years on the board of Paper Plus, including four as Chairman and the past three as Deputy Chairman.   Having retired from the Board in 2007, Rob returned in October, having been appointed by the Board to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of a director.

 

Gary Hayman

Gary with his wife Helen is owner operator of the Paper Plus store in Marton, a small rural town in the heart of the Rangitikei District with a population of 5,000.  Gary was a founding member of Nationwide Stationers and has 36 years experience in the book and stationery industry.  He has served as a Director of Paper Plus since 2000.  He is a member of the Marton Business Development Association, a life member of Rangitikei Motorcycle Club, a Justice of the Peace and enjoys fishing, reading, rugby and gardening.
 

 

Ted Van Arkel Independant Director

Ted van Arkel retired as Managing Director of Progressive Enterprises Ltd in Nov 2004, following an extensive career in both the retail and wholesale sectors including 13 years with PlaceMakers.  He is now a full time professional director working with a number of private and public Companies.  He is Chair of Restaurant Brands NZ Ltd, Charlie's Group Ltd and UNITEC NZ and a director of National Property Trust, Allied Work Force, Danske Mobler , La Grouw Corporation, SuperPoints Ltd and the  Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce.  

Neville Parkinson

Neville owns Paper Plus Gisborne with his wife Karen. Previously a Books & More store, he was a founding advisory board member. Neville has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University and is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of NZ.  While he had stints in investments, accounting and human resources his executive career was in marketing, advertising, sales management and business development. Neville has been active in the community coaching sports teams and chairing a school board. He is a member and past president of the Rotary club of Gisborne and ex Chamber of Commerce executive. He is the chairman of the Heart of Gisborne. 

 

Mark Fissenden Take Note Representative

Mark and his wife Megan own and operate Take Note Kaikoura.  With 8 years experience in this industry, Mark is enjoying his appointment to the Board.  Mark has a diverse background from banking to earthmoving and has strong links to his local community.  He is a current member of the Kaikoura Tourism and Development Committee, the Kaikoura Business Association, the Kaikoura Sport and Recreation Committee and is a life member of the Kaikoura Rugby Club along with being a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

 

Maurice Kidd Independent Director

Maurice is currently Chairman of Solution Dynamics Ltd, MonstaVision Holdings Limited, Molemap NZ Ltd, Image Centre Ltd and is a member of the advisory board for a substantial property fund.  Previous positions include Chairman of Pacific Retail Group Limited, GenI Ltd, Excel Corporation Ltd, NZ Warriors Ltd, director of Abano Healthcare Group, Executive director and finance director of Cullen Investments Ltd, CFO and Finance Director of Blue Star Group Limited  Commercial Director of the NZ Kiwifruit Marketing Board and CFO Freightways Group.
